Baxter Planning Systems set for accelerated growth with new CEO

AUSTIN, TX–(April 11, 2018) – Austin, Texas-based Baxter Planning Systems, a global leader in SaaS and PaaS planning solutions for the service supply chain, today announced that its board has appointed Chuck Moeling as the company’s new chief executive officer. Chuck succeeds Greg Baxter, who has led Baxter Planning Systems since founding the business in 1993. Greg will continue to play a strategic role in the management and leadership of the company as Baxter’s chief product officer.

“After 25 years building Baxter into one of the world’s largest providers of service parts planning technology, I felt it was time to pass on the CEO-baton and allow new leadership to help write the next chapter in the Baxter growth story,” said Greg Baxter. “Chuck brings a dynamic combination of strategy, sales, marketing, and technology skills that dovetail extremely well with the company’s growth strategy, customer markets and culture. This will afford me the opportunity to focus on my long-term passion for developing innovative, powerful solutions for the service parts planning community.” Beyond his product leadership role, Mr. Baxter will continue to serve on the company’s board of directors and remains a significant investor in the company.

A proven leader, Mr. Moeling joins Baxter from Interface Security Systems where he served as CMO & EVP of Sales. He also held previous executive roles with SaaS companies including RedPrairie, now JDA, and Radiant Systems, now a part of NCR.  Moeling spent the first decade of his career honing his skills in strategy and technology consulting with both Bain & Company and Accenture.

“Greg and his tenured leaders have built an impressive roster of satisfied customers employing high ROI service parts technologies built by Baxter.  As I got to know the team during the recruiting process, it became very clear to me that Baxter’s professionals are deeply passionate about delivering world-class solutions to service parts and supply chain leaders seeking to optimize the performance of their networks,” Chuck Moeling commented. “As CEO, my primary strategic objective is to continue creating powerful customer success stories driven by a continuous improvement mindset. At the same time, I plan to accelerate growth by leveraging Baxter’s deep expertise, uniquely collaborative culture and robust, process-driven technologies.”

The hiring of Mr. Moeling was directly coordinated with Mr. Baxter’s strategy to recruit the company’s first institutional investor, Polaris Partners, last fall.

“Investing in the Baxter platform and recruiting a talented, proven growth leader like Chuck gives us a powerful one-two punch to accelerate the company’s trajectory”, said Dan Lombard, Partner at Polaris Partners. “Chuck brings a disciplined process and data-driven approach, coupled with decades of experience building strategic partnerships with customers like the ones we see in Baxter’s portfolio.  We are very excited about this combination and the benefits we believe it will drive for the company and its customers.”

Bryce Youngren, Managing Partner at Polaris Partners, added “In addition to his 15+ years of experience growing recurring revenue businesses, we felt Chuck’s leadership style would mesh exceptionally well with the collaborative and innovative culture at Baxter.  We typically see great results when these stars align.”

Bianca Moreno with Bespoke Partners led the recruiting process.
