Austin, TEXAS (April 29, 2002) - Baxter Planning Systems, a fast growing developer of supply chain planning services and applications that transform service parts organizations into strategic assets, announced today that the company won a competition to implement service and spare parts planning solutions for Silicon Graphics, Inc. "Baxter's flagship solution, Prophet by Baxter(TM), has compiled an outstanding track record of increasing profitability and improving customer responsiveness in the after-market, service, repair, and spare parts industries," said Greg Baxter, president and chief executive officer of Baxter Planning Systems. "SGI is a global company with both diverse product lines and customer profiles, and selected Prophet for the unparalleled depth of its Web-based functionality and Prophet's fast return on investment."

Baxter will implement Prophet throughout SGI's international service parts organization. The Prophet elements SGI will use to cut inventory costs while enhancing customer service levels include site planning, product and material forecasting, distribution planning, and supply planning.

"SGI frequently launches new products, and needs Baxter's world-class supply chain planning solution to accurately forecast and efficiently stock inventory to support those new products," said Robert Ferrando, director of global operations at SGI.
