Baxter Planning Systems Supports Agilent's Supply Chain
Austin-based supply chain planning developer's ASP implementation cuts costs,
increases IT control, and improves service for worldwide business units
Austin, TEXAS (May 13, 2002) - Baxter Planning Systems, a fast growing
developer of supply chain planning services and applications that transform
service parts organizations into strategic assets, announced today that the
company has implemented its distribution planning application across Agilent
Technologies' (NYSE: A) three global business units. Baxter will demonstrate
such applications at booth number 3 at the Interlog2002 trade show in June.
"As Agilent spun out of Hewlett-Packard, Agilent's planning organization recognized
that maintaining its distributed IT infrastructure was both technically challenging
and expensive," said Greg Baxter, president and chief executive officer of Baxter
Planning Systems."With Baxter's implementation of
Prophet by Baxter(TM)
over an externally supported application service provider system,
Prophet applications
were more cost effective than internally hosted legacy systems, and the planning
organization actually gained more control over the application."
Baxter is providing its
Prophet distribution planning tool for global
service parts support of Agilent's three business units. Baxter provides
all hardware, software, and database and system administration for the project,
as well as ongoing production and planning support and consulting services.
Baxter also provides customized solutions to meet Agilent's unique needs as
the company continues to migrate its businesses and processes off Hewlett-Packard's
legacy IT systems, and supports Agilent's legacy forecasting and netting systems
through a service level agreement with Hewlett-Packard.
"
Prophet by Baxter calculates optimal inventory levels for Agilent's worldwide
stocking locations to reduce costs while significantly improving our ability
to maintain the service levels required to meet same- and next-day service obligations," said
Mark Anderson, strategic supply chain manager at Agilent. "Agilent chose
Prophet from
all the dedicated supply chain management applications and enterprise resource
planning products because of Baxter's service planning expertise, its ASP model's
easy implementation, and its consultants' knowledge of our host systems."
"Agilent has realized the benefits of utilizing this state-of-the-art software
to plan its support business," Anderson said. "Baxter has demonstrated real value
not only in the development of sophisticated planning tools, but also in their
ability to understand our business and relieve us of some direct costs with their
planning resources."
