Baxter Planning Systems Releases Prophet 4.0
Austin, TX- August 27, 2003 --Baxter Planning Systems, Inc.announced
the release of Prophet by Baxter version 4.0. This new version enhances the
ability to optimize parts inventory based on install base, entitlements, and
service contracts. Also added in this release is the ability to model end-of-life
forecasting with a graphical user interface.
Install Base Management: The population of supported products in the field
and the service commitments to those products is critical for planning service
parts inventory. Baxter Planning Systems pioneered the use of install base
and contract information for parts planning, and is now the first to market
with an install base management system fully integrated with an industry leading
inventory planning system, Prophet by Baxter. This enables the planning system
to proactively make inventory level adjustments to match any change in field
population and contractual obligations.
Prophet by Baxter 4.0 adds the ability to manage install base information directly
through the Prophet user interface or with periodic data updates from the client's
ERP, CRM or legacy system. Customers using the Install Base Management module
can customize their database to meet their business needs , set custom filters
and views and view enhanced mapping of install base information.

of sources including existing CRM systems, manual spreadsheets or directly maintain

generate supply orders within 24 hours of signing a new service contract."
Life Curves: End-of-life planning has long been an unenviable task for service
organizations and parts planners. Often the manufacturing of parts ends long
before the support requirement ends. Parts planners have had to make many manual
adjustments to develop a forecast of the expected demand at end-of-life.
Prophet 4.0 enhances the use of graphical life curves to facilitate adjustments
to a part forecast based on end of production and end of life dates. By simply
dragging a point on the life curve of the part, the supply plan for that part
can be adjusted to meet the new expected demand. This enhanced end of life
functionality will help to dramatically reduce the costs associated with excess
and obsolete inventory.
