Baxter Planning Systems Teams with AFSM International for "Operation
Profit"
AUSTIN, TX - (October 15, 2000) - Baxter Planning Systems and AFSM International
announced the launch of the co-sponsored live case study, "Operation Profit," to
investigate the value of planning software for the service parts industry.
The program will officially kick off at the AFSMI 30th World Conference & Exposition,
Oct. 14-21 in Nashville, TN.
"Operation Profit" is a revolutionary program that will award one company a year's
use of Prophet by Baxter(TM), a planning solution focused on the unique complexities
of the after-market, service, repair and spare parts industries. Baxter Planning
Systems, the leading provider of supply chain planning solutions to the service
parts industry, is providing software, training, integration and consulting services
at no cost. Estimated at a $500,000 value, the winner will receive the necessary
tools to manage a large inventory of parts, demanding service contracts, and
a complex distribution network.
"There are many software products on the market that address the supply chain
from a finished goods or manufacturing perspective, but very few address the
unique and complex requirements of the service side of a business," said Greg
Baxter, president and CEO of Baxter Planning Systems. "Therefore, service organizations
often ask how a supply chain solution is implemented in a service parts environment,
and what benefits can be expected. 'Operation Profit' will answer those questions."
AFSMI, as an independent party, will monitor and evaluate "Operation Profit" as
a service to its members and subscribers. AFSMI will provide quarterly updates
on the progress of "Operation Profit" in both the AFSMI Journal and at www.afsmi.org.
This program will give a third-party evaluation of the potential inventory
savings and service level improvements associated with supply chain planning.
The end result will be a white paper produced by AFSMI to evaluate the effectiveness
of the program.
"AFSMI is confident that this engagement will provide our community with an impartial
evaluation of supply chain planning software, which is relevant to a cross section
of industries," said Gary Elliott, AFSMI chief operating officer. "By giving
our members and readers this information we are upholding our promise to be the
voice of the services industry."
Baxter will begin accepting applications for "Operation Profit" at the AFSMI
conference and will continue until Dec. 15. Applications are available at the
conference and www.bybaxter.com or www.afsmi.org. AFSMI will select the winning
company by Dec. 20, and the winner will be announced on the Web sites as well
as in the February issue of the AFSMI Journal.
